It's your turn to take a stab at that tongue twister. Do this Lingt assignment & try your best at it!
I am out of school today — please be nice to your sub!
Today in class, you have 3 tasks to complete: 1. A survey to help me create your Chinese name (this must be finished for you to receive your name on Monday) 2. MEMORIZE those numbers 1-10! Practice saying them, practice writing the characters, go back & forth with a partner, etc. 3. Use your Google account to log in to Quizlet.com and join the 6th Grade Chinese class. You should see one set in there called "Numbers 0-10 in Characters." Do a few of the Quizlet activities — I recommend "Scatter." :) Please keep this in mind today: Welcome! I'm really excited to dive in to our exploratory trimester of Chinese together. Here are a few videos from class this week to get you started. Remember that on Monday, you will stand up in front of the class and count to 10 in Chinese to earn your Chinese name! :) Today you are going to start preparation for an individual cultural project that you will be working on for the next few weeks. Here's what you should do today:
1. In small groups (3-4 people), make a common Google Doc called "Cultural Project Ideas." Share the Doc with me. Make a list of different cultural topics you are interested in about China or Chinese-speaking culture. For each topic, write 2 questions. This should take about 15 minutes. Here are your groups: Gus/Case/Jackson/Tucker Fin/Rachel/Colin Acacia/Olivia/JP Savannah/Skyler/Isla 2. Individually, choose one topic that interests you — it should be interesting enough that you will enjoy studying it for a few weeks! Then, find three web resources with information about your topic. Email me to tell me what your topic is, and also include the links to your resources in your email. This should take 20-25 minutes. Dig a little bit to find good resources; don't just pull up the first 3 things that come up in a Google search! I am out for today & tomorrow doing the A World of Difference training with the high school. Have a good class! Today, please complete this Lingt assignment about tongue twisters. When you have finished, you can watch this video below. It is a popular song that has a lot of tongue twisters in the lyrics. :) You guys all did a really wonderful job standing up in front of the class to count to 10. I was so impressed!
Here are a couple of things to help you practice the numbers — remember you'll have to count to 10 tomorrow! :) You can all do it! You guys did an awesome job today thinking of words to describe Beijing and Shanghai — here's a photo of our "word cloud" for each. You might need to click & zoom to see the details. Beijing: populated, colorful, design, stereotypical, beautiful, giant, wow!, detailed Shanghai: neon, exciting, urban, awesome, radioactive, colorful, traffic, amazing, modern, busy And, for your viewing enjoyment, here are the two videos we watched today in class: |
