For homework tonight, please continue practicing the Quizlet set "Placements and Directions." Great job on the partner activity today; I was very impressed with the work I saw around the room.
You have an assignment on Lingt due Monday (4/6). This is a speaking assignment using the grammar pattern we've been practicing in class. It will be helpful to have that "cheat sheet" I gave you; if you lost it, you can access it on here on Google Drive.
Please practice this Quizlet set, "Placements & Directions," before class on Thursday!
Switch your computer into Chinese language input and complete this Lingt assignment. Please finish this by the end of class! If you finish early, you may review the backpack vocabulary & colors.
On Friday & Monday, you will complete a speaking quiz using an iPad and the app Explain Everything. You will describe your backpack and at least 5 things that are in your backpack in Chinese (including the colors), drawing them as you go. Please email 老师 at [email protected] to sign up for either Friday or Monday. You will take the quiz one person at a time in a quiet space while the rest of the class engages in review activities. For Monday, please finish the handout you got in class — the translation questions & the reading comprehension at the bottom of the page.
For Wednesday, please write 3 sentences about the things in lǎoshī's backpack, based on the drawing that we did in class. Each sentence should follow the pattern:
Lǎoshī de shūbāo lǐ yǒu + number + measure word + color + de + thing Please watch this video and practice the characters on a piece of paper. Hand your paper in on Friday. 你们好! Please arrange yourselves in the following groups and create a short skit (~1 minute) using the situation given. You will perform these with your group tomorrow during our class birthday party! Situation 1: A clueless American receives a birthday gift from a Chinese friend and really messes up. 容态、杜涛、韩明游 (容态 is the consultant for this group, as he will not be here on Friday) Situation 2: A very culturally aware American adeptly receives a birthday gift from Chinese friends, doing all the right things. 苏然乐、易小安、范炳艺 Situation 3: At a birthday party, a clueless American gives a birthday gift to a Chinese friend, making pretty much every mistake possible. Another Chinese friend winces at how AWKWARD (gān gà) it is. 李玉、卫山雄、宁晓瑞 Situation 4: A Chinese person returns home to open a gift from an American friend to discover that it is ... a clock shaped like an umbrella. He/she wonders why the American friend dislikes him/her so much. Meanwhile, the American friend is thinking about how much the Chinese friend will like the gift, and wondering why he/she didn't open it when he/she gave it to him/her. 孙诚、程艺 You may use the Quizlet sets to help you come up with your skits.
